Air Transport Pilot Course
The Accelerated Air Transport Pilot Course prepares a pilot for employment as a professional pilot. The ATP Rating is regarded as the PhD of the aviation industry. Graduates of our ATP courses are employed throughout the United States at various airlines, charter companies, and corporate flight departments.
Each day consists of about 7 to 9 hours of ATP flight education. The Accelerated Air Transport Pilot Course utilizes a syllabus to organize the course, however we are always flexible according to our students’ needs. The day typically begins at 9:00 A.M. and ends at 5:00 P.M. If it is necessary, some lessons may extend into the evening hours. However, we do realize that students learn much better when their basic needs are met, therefore we always allow more than enough time for eating, sleeping, and general relaxation. We urge students to explore Kansas City after a long day of flying in order to unwind from the rigors of accelerated flight training.
Career Pilot School is extremely flexible when it comes to the aircraft used for this course. If you are an aircraft owner, we highly recommend using your own aircraft as it better prepares you for your real world teaching experience upon completion of the course. If you are not an aircraft owner, Career Pilot School offers a Piper Twin Comanche for your use.
The cost of the Accelerated ATP Program is $2800 when completed in one of our Piper Twin Comanches and $1200 when completed in your aircraft. This price includes training materials, flight time up to 10 hours, all flight instruction, unlimited simulator use and all ground instruction. If the course cannot be completed within the hours allotted, the student has the option of paying for extra flight time at a per hour cost. In the rare event that this occurs, there is no additional flight or ground instruction charges. Above prices do not include sales tax, housing or the practical test fee.
Air Transport Pilot Course Phases
Phase I
Phase I encompasses days one and two. You will spend day one learning the Twin Comanches systems, and reviewing multi-engine aerodynamics, decision-making, and many other topics. Flight time will be spent wholly on our simulator while focusing on precision instrument flight during all phases of flight, including emergency procedures. Day one ends with a one hour transition flight in the Twin Comanche. Day two is spent in the aircraft working on stall recovery, steep turns, emergency operations, and engine inoperative operations during various stages of flight, including instrument approaches. Emphasis will be on precision instrument flight.
Phase II
Days three is spent perfecting the ATP maneuvers, as well as working on precision instrument flight. You will perform precision and non-precision approaches in various engine configurations as well as holding, missed approaches, and circling approaches.
Phase III
Day four is spent reviewing for the ATP Practical exam. Flight time and/or simulator time is possible. We typically schedule your check ride in the afternoon to allow for an additional review session during the morning hours.
