Multi Engine Flight Instructor Course
The Accelerated Multi Engine Flight Instructor Course prepares a pilot for Multi Engine Flight Education. Graduates of our CFI courses are employed throughout the United States at numerous flight schools.
Each day consists of about 7 to 9 hours of MEI flight education. The Accelerated Multi Engine Flight Instructor Course utilizes a syllabus to organize the course, however we are always flexible according to our students’ needs. The day typically begins at 9:00 A.M. and ends at 5:00 P.M. If it is necessary, some lessons may extend into the evening hours. However, we do realize that students learn much better when their basic needs are met, therefore we always allow more than enough time for eating, sleeping, and general relaxation. We urge students to explore Kansas City after a long day of flying in order to unwind from the rigors of accelerated flight training.
Career Pilot School is extremely flexible when it comes to the aircraft used for this course. If you are an aircraft owner, we highly recommend using your own aircraft as it better prepares you for your real world teaching experience upon completion of the course. If you are not an aircraft owner, Career Pilot School offers a Piper Twin Comanche for your use.
The cost of the Accelerated MEI Program is $3900 when completed in one of our Piper Twin Comanches and $1500 when completed in your aircraft. This price includes training materials, flight time up to 15 hours, all flight instruction, unlimited simulator use and all ground instruction. If the course cannot be completed within the hours allotted, the student has the option of paying for extra flight time at a per hour cost. In the rare event that this occurs, there is no additional flight or ground instruction charges. Above prices do not include sales tax, housing or the practical test fee.
Multi Engine Flight Instructor Course Phases
Phase I
Phase one encompasses days one and two. You will spend day one learning the Twin Comanche’s systems, as well as reviewing multi-engine aerodynamics, decision making, and many other topics. Flight time will be spent wholly on our simulator while focusing on teaching engine out procedures during all phases of flight. Day one ends with a one hour flight in the Twin Comanche. Day two is spent in the aircraft focusing on teaching stall recovery, steep turns, slow flight, Vmc demonstrations, emergency descents, drag demonstrations, and engine inoperative operations during various stages of flight.
Phase II
Days three is spent perfecting teaching the multi-engine pilot maneuvers, as well as working on teaching instrument maneuvers in multi-engine aircraft. You will perform precision and non-precision approaches in various engine configurations. There is also time to review the basic multi-engine flying techniques covered during phase I.
Phase III
Day four is spent reviewing for the Multi Engine Instructor Practical exam. Flight time and/or simulator time is possible. We typically schedule your check ride with out Designated Examiner in the afternoon to allow for an additional review session during the morning hours.
